Yeah I think it depends really, you might be controlling the characters in a game but take Manhunt for instance. You're in control...of blocky and extremely unrealistic looking characters in a PS2 game. Whereas something like Hannibal, Dexter or Human Centipede is very graphic and can look very very real. Practical effects can look shockingly realistic sometimes. Some of the stuff in Hannibal is insane, like if I was going crazy that's completely how I'd imagine images would look So I guess it depends on the person and their sense of reality. They might consider a TV show to be far more real while a game they still realize it's under their control. Or they might think a show is obviously fake but with a game be imagining themselves doing whatever acts, immersing themselves in to that world and losing touch with the barriers between it and our own. |

Don't know about Dexter, with L&O, it's been too long since I've watched it so I couldn't tell you. Edited by Zoom, Sep 25 2015, 03:21 AM.

The difference between realistic games and realistic movies then? Essentially in regards to crime and killing and such. |

I still agree with OP. It's not just with games though, like others have already said. Indiana Jones taught me how to ride a horse, find religious relics and beat up Nazis. Better guide than Wikihow, if you ask me. |
